Seasonal Events Programme

Sudeley Castle, England’s best kept secret and horticultural jewel nestled in the heart of the Cotswold countryside.

Lady Ashcombe welcomes visitors to explore over 1000 years of the Castle’s rich British history. This season will see an extensive events programme unfold celebrating the castle’s glorious gardens, tales of royal associations, and previously unheard histories.

APRIL

Tue 16th

Sarah Morris A talk, Q&A and booking signing with Sarah Morris (author of ‘Le Temps Viendra: A novel of Anne Boleyn’)  in the banqueting Hall from 7pm-9pm (tickets £6:00)

Sun 21st Tudor Fun Day Family Day – Visitors can step back into Sudeley’s Tudor past with Falconry and Owl Talks with local Falconer Gary Cope; Circus Workshops and stilt walking with Thomas Trilby and Friends; and Tudor themed arts and crafts. 10:30am-4:30pm

Mon 24th – Sun 30th      Rose Week         Peter Beal’s spectacular roses will be showcased as the centre-piece in the Queens’ Garden; best known for its stunning display of over 70 varieties of roses. Visitors will have the opportunity to embark on special tours with gardeners and guides during Rose Week, gleaning top tips and the opportunity to purchase seedlings to take home

JULY

Tues 9th  Alison Weir A talk on ‘The Six Wives of Henry VIII’, Q&A and book signing with best-selling author and historian Alison Weir in the Banqueting Hall from 7pm-9pm (tickets £10:00)

OCTOBER

Fri 11th

Interactive Nature Walk

Take your children on a unique and interactive wildlife walk and discover natural habitats along the way, including bird and bat boxes, a hogitat, ladybird log, butterfly feeder and bee log. Also installed are a minibeast motel, sensory activities and finger mazes. Information boards (under the direction of the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust) line the trail of what can be found in the grounds as well as tips on how visitors can encourage wildlife in their own gardens.

Adventure Play Fort

Sudeley’s unique adventure play fort will satisfy even the wildest of imaginations. Come and experience the spectacular wooden fort full of hidey-holes, towers, a slide and even a zip-wire! There are picnic benches located within the area and refreshments (cold drinks, ice creams and snacks) are available by the entrance.

NB: Suitable for children aged 5 and over.

Watch Owls being tamed

Observe Sudeley’s impressive collection of owls and rare pheasants from around the world, at Sudeley’s pleasantry, and watch the beautiful Snowy Owls being tamed for public interaction throughout the season. A talk about the owls will take place every Sunday throughout the season in the Pheasantry at 3:30pm.

Stay in Sudeley’s Cottages

Castle Country Cottages are available all year round and perfect for an Easter getaway. The cottages are located on the edge of the estate, between the Castle and the historic town of Winchcombe. Prices start from £331 for three nights, and £454 for a week’s stay.
