Blackpool Zoo set for spooktacular half-term

Special Halloween trail will have people chasing tails!

Visitors to Blackpool Zoo can get involved in a mystical half-term trail to find a mermaid that went missing as she searched for her one true love.

From Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th October the Dinosaur Safari will be transformed into a spooky land of mermaid make-believe and a Mermaid’s Tale will take people on a wild journey across the zoo by matching pictures of animal tails to find the clues and solve the mystery.

According to the legend, she was last seen by the shore where the dinosaurs drink…..so intrepid investigators should pay a visit to the Dinosaur Safari as their first port of call.

Sheets containing the clues can be collected at the zoo’s admission desks and, once completed they can be swapped for a sweet treat!

There will be photo opportunities galore for visitors to capture spooky memories of the day as well as lots of pumpkin enrichments for the animals too!

The zoo’s Playbarn will also be hosting two very special Halloween themed parties on the 28th and 31st October with a fancy-dress competition, buffet, monster slush, games, spooky hoopla disco, face painting and ghoulish free gifts!

Nicola Benstead, Marketing and PR Co-ordinator at Blackpool Zoo, said: “We love Halloween at Blackpool Zoo and it is always great to see visitors get involved in our spooky trails!

“The Mermaid’s Tale will test everyone’s knowledge on animal tails and the clues will all lead to the location of the magical mermaid, where the mystery will be solved!

“Our teams always do an amazing job with Halloween decorations to set the spooky scene and the Playbarn’s parties are legendary!

“October is a wonderful time to visit Blackpool Zoo as the colours across the park are breath-taking and everyone is ready to have fun during the first official break of the new school year.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors for a ghoulishly good time this October.”

Tickets for the Playbarn parties can be booked by calling 01253 830809 or by emailing play.barn@blackpoolzoo.org.uk.
