On Saturday 23rd November, Cheltenham will light up with thousands of twinkling lights across the town, creating a truly magical atmosphere. Families can enjoy free festivities such as The Brewery Quarter’s Christmas Launch Party or the Pittville Pump Room’s Christmas Lights Switch-On. For those looking to warm up indoors, Cheltenham offers a variety of fantastic restaurants for a cosy meal after enjoying the Christmas lights.

Cheltenham’s Magical Ice Rink
One of the highlights of this year’s festive season is Cheltenham’s covered ice rink in the stunning Imperial Gardens. Running from Friday 29th November 2024 to Sunday 5th January 2025, the rink offers skating sessions for all ages (from 3+), as well as special themed events such as the Ice Princess party sessions, complete with appearances from your favourite snow queen. Pre-book your tickets via Visit Cheltenham Ice Skating to avoid missing out. If skating isn’t for you, there’s plenty of festive food and drink to enjoy while watching the fun on the ice.

Christmas Markets in Cheltenham
Cheltenham’s Christmas Gift Market will run from 21st – 24th November along the historic Promenade, featuring chalets packed with gifts, homewares, and festive food. From 12th – 22nd December, the town hosts the Arts & Crafts Christmas Market, where you’ll find unique handmade items including pottery, jewellery, and glassware. For a charming local market experience, head to The Suffolk’s Christmas Market on Sunday 24th November, offering a range of arts, crafts, gifts, sweet treats, and street food. Children will also be delighted by festive entertainment, carol singing, and a visit from Father Christmas!

Festive Family Fun
Cheltenham is famous for its live entertainment, and families can look forward to The Everyman Theatre’s panto performance of Aladdin, starring Tweedy the Clown, or enjoy Jack & The Beanstalk at The Playhouse Theatre. A magical live performance of The Snowman with the Mozart Symphony Orchestra will take place at Cheltenham Town Hall—a heartwarming event for all ages. Don’t miss the Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle, from 22nd November to 30th December, where visitors can explore a beautifully lit Sleeping Beauty themed trail.

Horse Racing Festivities
Cheltenham’s famous racecourse will host The Christmas Meeting on 13th and 14th December, and the thrilling New Year’s Day Raceday on 1st January 2025, with festive-themed family fun and discounted admission for younger visitors.
