On 11 June 2025, the LEGO Group brings the world together to celebrate World Play Day, a global call to action for play. Inspired by the UN’s newly adopted International Day of Play, this brand-new celebration invites families and children everywhere to transform cities through creative play. Events will take place in London, Berlin, Boston, and Shanghai, with children’s ideas taking centre stage.

Play reimagines cities through young minds
Children have joined LEGO’s Build the Change challenge, imagining fun-filled city improvements through play. Their playful visions will come to life in city-wide activations. In London, the LEGO Group teams up with Serpentine to create a Play Pavilion, a space celebrating creativity. In Shanghai, riverside play spaces will pop up with immersive activities. Berlin’s iconic Spätis will become community hubs packed with interactive games. In Boston, children will shape their city’s future through hands-on fun inspired by local culture.
LEGO partners with global creators
A powerhouse team of Playmakers joins the LEGO Group to help bring kids’ visions to life. Science and engineering legend Mark Rober leads the charge, turning epic play concepts into jaw-dropping reality. Known for his viral slime volcano and trampoline stunts, Mark turns STEM into unforgettable fun.
He joins global talents like Younes Zarou, Lourdes Villagómez, Zoe Wees, Jamad Fiin and others. These artists, athletes, and creators aim to show that play isn’t just fun—it fuels creativity, innovation, and connection.
Play changes lives and communities for LEGO World Play Day
With over 70% of the world’s population set to live in cities by 2050, space for play matters more than ever. LEGO champions play as vital for children’s emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Through World Play Day, the LEGO Group invites children to design more joyful, inclusive urban spaces. Families can join the challenge by submitting ideas at www.LEGO.com/WorldPlayDay and posting on social media using #BuildtheChange.
Additional activities include a LEGO Festival across seven LEGOLAND resorts, a free Educator Toolkit launching 19 May, and play-themed programmes at LEGO House and Discovery Centres.
