Unwrap the Magic of a Tropical Christmas at InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort

A Bespoke Festive Experience for All

This December 2024, the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort invites families to a unique, tropical Christmas experience. Located on the southern tip of Raa Atoll, the resort’s luxury festive programme will blend culinary excellence, wellness, creative arts, and entertainment—offering something for every guest.

The 2024 celebrations revolve around the theme of “elements”—earth, air, fire, and water—emphasising self-care, human connections, and a reverence for nature. The resort’s dedication to sustainability is notable, especially through its Manta Trust partnership for marine conservation.

Culinary Highlights

This year, renowned Michelin-starred chef Thanos Feskos will grace the resort from 29th December to 5th January, crafting exclusive menus. His signature 12-stage culinary experience, blending Mediterranean flavours with Scandinavian techniques, promises a highlight for food enthusiasts.

Throughout the festive season, the resort’s chefs will host themed dining events, offering a global culinary journey. Guests can also join cooking classes that celebrate the “elements,” with dishes highlighting local ingredients and traditions.

Family Entertainment: Fun for All Ages

Children can expect a wealth of activities hosted by the dynamic duo, Sharky & George, who return from 28th December to 6th January. Through imaginative games, treasure hunts, and creative adventures, they will ensure the kids’ days are filled with excitement.

The Planet Trekkers Kids Club will be hosting a variety of fun and educational activities that introduce children to marine biology and the island’s natural surroundings, making learning enjoyable.

Adding to the excitement, Area 51 Entertainment will provide magical fire performances and dance shows, ensuring captivating experiences for the whole family.

Art and Wellness Residencies

Contemporary seascape artist Nina Brooke returns for a two-week residency from 28th December 2024 to 9th January 2025. Guests can join her laid-back art classes, commission bespoke artwork, and view her ocean-inspired exhibition. Brooke will also create a special piece dedicated to manta ray conservation, with proceeds benefiting The Manta Trust.

For those seeking relaxation, wellness practitioner Yoko Kawaguchi will offer bespoke treatments between 26th November and 6th January. Guests can experience holistic therapies such as Reiki and aromatherapy, or indulge in new treatments at the resort’s AVI Spa, like gemstone facials and detoxifying scrubs. Tailored wellness journeys for the whole family are also available, allowing guests to focus on stress relief, sleep, or physical rejuvenation.

Festive Celebrations and Traditions

Despite the tropical setting, traditional Christmas festivities will take place. The celebrations begin with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and children will be delighted by surprise appearances from Father Christmas, who is expected to sail in during the holiday period.

On Christmas Eve, guests will enjoy cocktails followed by a globally inspired dinner prepared by the resort’s talented chefs. The celebrations culminate on New Year’s Eve with live music, artistic performances, and a grand Elements Celebration on the beach, featuring ballet, fireworks, and magical illusions led by Marc Levelle.

Luxury Accommodations and Festive Offers

The resort boasts 81 luxurious beach, lagoon, and over-water villas, along with six restaurants and bars. Guests looking to experience this enchanting festive programme can take advantage of the Festive Season Limited Offer, valid for bookings made between 25th June and 31st August 2024. Stays of five nights or more will receive a 25% discount, complimentary seaplane transfers, and gala dinner tickets for both Christmas and New Year.

With rates starting from USD 3,000 per night for a Water Pool Villa, including breakfast for two, the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort offers the ultimate tropical Christmas experience in one of the world’s most stunning settings.
