Families looking for a fun-filled spring day out will be pleased to hear that Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! opens at Alton Towers Resort this year, and the excitement is already building. To mark the countdown, the resort has unveiled a truly eye-catching tribute to everyone’s favourite blue heeler.

Appearing on the iconic front lawn near CBeebies Land, the giant portrait of Bluey has been created using an astonishing 11,494 tins of beans. Measuring 20 by 15 metres and taking 18 hours to complete, the installation shows Bluey dressed as her much-loved granny alter ego, Janet, complete with headscarf. It’s a playful nod to the fan-favourite “Grannies” episode of the award-winning animated series Bluey, where Bluey and Bingo transform into mischievous grannies Janet and Rita, with beans featuring heavily in their slapstick antics. The larger-than-life artwork has certainly caught the attention of visitors and perfectly sets the scene for what promises to be one of the year’s most anticipated family attractions.

Opening at CBeebies Land inside Alton Towers Resort, Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is the world’s first Bluey-themed junior coaster, designed especially with little riders – and their grown-ups – in mind. The gentle family ride takes guests on a colourful journey through Bluey’s backyard as Bluey and Bingo, dressed as Janet and Rita, get up to their usual granny-style mischief. Expect smooth turns, small dips and plenty of bright, playful details along the way, making it an ideal first coaster experience for younger children. The fun doesn’t stop once you step off the ride either. Families can explore an interactive queue inspired by Bluey’s house, snap photos, and even meet Bluey and her family during the Bluey Live experience at Big Fun Show Time. For those wanting to make a proper getaway of it, there’s also the option of extending the adventure with a stay at the CBeebies Land Hotel. With giggles guaranteed and plenty of opportunities to create those all-important first rollercoaster memories, this latest addition to CBeebies Land looks set to be a huge hit with Bluey fans of all ages.

Book now for the ride opening on March 28.
