Having a baby doesn’t have to mean putting your favourite hobbies on hold, but getting back into running as a new mum can feel like a bit of a challenge. Between feeds, naps and finding the time to actually get out of the front door, fitting in a run can seem almost impossible.
So when I was looking for a way to combine some exercise with time outdoors with my baby, the Hauck Runner 2 caught my eye. Hauck Runner 2 makes family life a little bit easier, built to tackle long muddy walks and tricky terrain.
At first, I wasn’t sure how I would get on with a three-wheeled running buggy. It looks considerably bigger than a standard pushchair, but once I got used to it, I found it surprisingly straightforward to handle.
The large air-filled tyres make pushing over pavements and park paths much easier, and I particularly liked being able to adjust the handlebar to a comfortable height. The five-point harness also made me feel reassured that my little one was securely strapped in.
For me, the biggest plus is that it isn’t just for running. It works well as an everyday buggy too, with a generous shopping basket underneath and a useful rain cover – something every British mum appreciates!
I also love how easily it folds. It is quite bulky compared with a normal pushchair, but the clever folding mechanism means it can be wheeled along like a suitcase.
I wouldn’t describe it as a high-performance running buggy (Which can cost up to £799) , and I’d stick to smoother paths rather than very rough trails. But for a mum wanting to gradually get back into gentle running while enjoying some fresh air with her baby, it feels like a practical and very reasonably priced option.
Most importantly, it makes getting out and moving again feel possible – and after those exhausting early months of motherhood, that’s a pretty big win.

Jogging note: Despite its name, the Hauck Runner 2 isn’t designed for fast running. It can, however, be used for light jogging on flat to moderately uneven terrain. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding when and how it should be used with a baby.
