BBC Bitesize Parenting

BBC Bitesize Parenting has a new podcast called Parenting Teens with Kerry Godliman – extending what they’ve done with CBeebies Parenting but for school age children and teens, timed with GCSE and A Level revision kicking off.

The new research…

  • 1 in 5 parents don’t feel confident helping with revision
  • 35% say exam season makes them anxious
  • 1 in 5 worry they’ll say the wrong thing
  • 1 in 5 say it’s causing rows at home

And the reality is a lot of parents are trying to help but making it worse, one said their kid gets more stressed about being told to revise than the exams themselves.

The new platform includes:

  • A really practical “what to say / what not to say” guide during revision
  • Advice from psychologists on handling teen stress without escalating it
  • Tips on avoiding parent burnout during exam season

Also a fantastic new podcast Parenting Teens with Kerry Godliman getting into the messy stuff, revision, screen time, hormones and just helping parents feel less alone.

Just in time for exam season, BBC expands parenting support with Bitesize Parenting

  • Following from CBeebies Parenting, BBC Children’s & Education’s new offering continues to support families, not just through their early years but across their whole school life.
  • New resources help parents support learning from primary to secondary
