LeapFrog has launched a new range of learning toys for the back-to-school season, designed to help children build confidence in letters, numbers, problem-solving and independent learning through play. The brand says 96% of teachers recommend its toys, giving parents reassurance that the picks genuinely support development as children head back into the classroom routine.
LeapMove: an active learning console
The LeapMove console (RRP £74.99, age 4+) swaps screen time for movement, using motion-sensing technology so children can jump, wiggle and dance through 25 games covering maths, spelling and logic. No controllers or internet connection are needed, and the console supports up to three player profiles with adjustable difficulty levels.
Three new downloadable games have just been added to LeapMove. Rhythm Superstar (£5.00) turns the living room into a concert stage across nine songs, including a two-player Rhythm Race mode. PAW Patrol: Adventure Bay Heroes (£7.50) sends children on rescue missions with Chase, Skye and Marshall, mixing phonics, spelling and number recognition across three learning levels. Dora: Explore Together (£7.50), available from September 2026, has children solving puzzles and collecting gems across three chapters with Dora and Boots. Magic Adventures: cameras, globes and telescopes
The Magic Adventures range brings real-world exploration to life for children aged 5 and up. The Binocular Camera (£69.99) has a flip-up screen loaded with over 340 BBC educational videos and 720 facts across nine categories, plus games for tracking animals and exploring ecosystems.
The Magic Adventures Globe (£89.99) pairs an interactive stylus with a 10-inch globe and a 2.7-inch screen showing BBC video content, letting children explore continents, cultures and habitats, with three built-in quiz games. Tap the globe with the stylus and it lights up with animals, flags and fun facts. Kids love spinning it to find countries, racing through the Quiz Show game, and hearing BBC clips bring far-off places to life. It turns geography into a game they don’t want to stop playing.
Mum Review: Magic Adventures™ Globe
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the Magic Adventures™ Globe, but my five-year-old was fascinated from the moment we got it out of the box. At 10 inches, it’s a good size for little hands to explore, and the interactive stylus makes finding different countries and places feel much more exciting than simply looking at a traditional globe.
What I particularly liked was the amount of information packed into it. My son could tap different areas and discover facts about animals, habitats, languages and cultures, which often led to lots of questions – always a good sign when you’re trying to encourage a child’s curiosity!
The BBC video content is a lovely addition too. The 2.7-inch screen brings some of the information to life and gives children something different to explore.
The three games – Around the World, Quiz Show and Where in the World – were probably the biggest hit. They turned learning into a bit of a competition, and he kept wanting to have another go.
The Magic Adventures Telescope (£109.99) offers genuine telescope functionality with 100x zoom, a 2.4-inch screen, and videos from NASA and the European Space Agency, alongside space-themed games.
My First STEAM Tablet for younger learners
For younger children, the My First STEAM Tablet (£19.99, age 2+) introduces science, technology, engineering, art and maths through play, with animated characters Dr. Frankensteam and SteamBot guiding activities such as growing seeds, building robots and counting with dinosaur bones and magnets.
