Trinity Theatre invites families to step into a world bursting with imagination, laughter and storytelling, as it unveils a vibrant new spring season of live entertainment for all ages. Packed with music, adventure and interactive fun, the programme promises unforgettable experiences for children and grown-ups alike.
From the playful thrills of There’s a Monster in Your Show to the heartwarming mystery of The Detective Dog, the fast-paced interactive fun of WiFi Wars, and the timeless mischief of The Cat in the Hat, the season celebrates creativity, curiosity and the joy of shared live theatre. A very special highlight includes an appearance from beloved children’s author and performer Michael Rosen, making this an unmissable line-up for families this spring.
Baby Gospel (Fri 24 April)
Baby Gospel is a relaxed, uplifting concert for grown-ups and little ones alike, featuring soul, Motown and gospel classics performed live by members of London’s renowned CK Gospel Choir. Sing, clap, and groove along to iconic hits from Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Pharrell, and more. Enjoy traditional gospel songs and familiar nursery rhymes in a relaxed, child-friendly setting, complete with bubbles and interactive moments perfect for all ages.
There’s a Monster in Your Show (6 & 7 May)
Currently working alongside the UK’s favourite bear, Paddington, Tom Fletcher is one of the UK’s bestselling authors and chart-topper with pop-rock band McFly. Now his book, There’s A Monster in Your Show leaps from page – onto musical stage, he’s adamant he wants his high-energy play to cement a love of theatre in children’s hearts. “I know taking kids to the theatre can be a bit daunting – but this show is made with young families in mind. It’s completely interactive, noisy in all the best ways and children are encouraged to shout, sing, clap and dance their hearts out! “ You can expect comedy and chaos as Little Monster and his friends help to create a magical show, learning about the joy of books and friendship along the way.
Michael Rosen: NICE! (17 May)
Poetry legend Michael Rosen celebrates his 80th birthday with a brand-new live show!
Michael looks back at a lifetime in poetry, performing beloved classics including Hot Food, No Breathing and Chocolate Cake, along with never-before-heard poems from his new collection Peas On Your Knees. NICE! Is a show for all ages, from the young to the young at heart.
HALF TERM ENTERTAINMENT
WiFi Wars (25 May)
A completely unique theatrical experience for ages 6+, WiFi Wars turns the audience into the stars of the show. Using smartphones and tablets, participants compete as teams and as individuals in games, quizzes and challenges hosted by comedian Steve McNeil. Fast-paced, interactive and hilariously unpredictable, it’s an award-winning show that brings gaming culture to life on stage.
The Detective Dog (26 & 27 May)
Based on the beloved book by Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie, The Detective Dog is a delightful and inclusive production for Deaf and hearing audiences. Featuring British Sign Language, creative captions and spoken English, the show follows Nell the detective dog as she solves a mysterious book disappearance. Expect puppetry, music and sensory surprises in this engaging celebration of reading.
The Cat in the Hat (12 & 13 June)
Experience the mischief with the acclaimed stage adaptation of Dr Seuss’ The Cat In The Hat. From the moment his tall, red and white-striped hat appears, Sally and her brother know that the cat in the hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and craziest of ideas, he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. This playful production is an ideal first theatre experience for children aged 3+, with the added delight of meeting the Cat after the show.
