Families can enjoy a Halloween adventure with Shaun the Sheep at Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum this October half term, with a week of free and low-cost activities inspired by the new film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom.
Running from 26 October to 1 November 2026, the museum’s Mossy Bottom Laboratory will bring Shaun’s spooky world to life with hands-on activities, live science shows and opportunities to discover the secrets behind animation and filmmaking.
There will be plenty for young film fans to enjoy, including stop-motion animation workshops led by the museum’s Explainers, Shaun the Sheep-themed photo opportunities and science shows exploring the magic of the movies.
Halloween fun for all the family
Saturday 31 October promises an extra-special day of spooky activities for families. Children can get Halloween-ready with face painting, join a spooky silent disco and take part in family-friendly tours exploring fascinating objects from the museum’s collections.
These include iconic horror film props and Victorian spirit photography, offering a glimpse into the history of spooky entertainment.
Throughout half term, visitors can also drop in for talks in the museum’s Sound and Vision galleries, discovering the secrets of special effects make-up. Inspired by the museum’s collection of Hammer Horror material, the talks will reveal more about how filmmakers create their on-screen scares.
Aardman fans will have the chance to see an original set made and used by the animation studio for the 2015 film Shaun the Sheep Movie. A trail around the museum will also help families explore the science behind filmmaking and animation.
Catch Shaun the Sheep on the big screen
The fun continues at Pictureville Cinema, which will screen a programme of Aardman favourites throughout October half term.
Screenings will include the new 2026 film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, alongside other much-loved Aardman films. Families can also take advantage of a reduced-price Kids’ Club offer on selected Aardman favourites, with tickets starting at just £3.
With creative workshops, fascinating film facts and plenty of Halloween excitement, the National Science and Media Museum offers families an opportunity to combine a school holiday day out with a little science, creativity and movie magic.
