Tucked away in the Lincolnshire countryside near Stamford, The Nest offers a secluded lakeside escape with all the comforts of a beautifully designed home-from-home. Its three luxury tented lodges sit beside a private lake, giving families the chance to slow the pace without giving up a proper kitchen, a plush living space or a wood-burning stove.
Mornings begin with views across the water, and days can be spent exploring the surrounding countryside before returning to the warmth of the lodge as evening falls. Each lodge sleeps up to six and comes with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable living space, alongside an indulgent egg-shaped bath overlooking the lake.
A New All-Year Retreat
New for this season, The Nest has transformed one of its lodges into an all-year-round retreat. It now has full insulation, an electric oven for slow, easy cooking, proper heating for colder nights and a sleek Scandi-style log burner that becomes a natural gathering point as the evenings draw in.
The lodge can be made even more of a home-from-home with a choice of outdoor additions, including a wood-fired hot tub, fire pit, pizza oven and outdoor cinema screen. As the temperature drops, guests can make the most of the private setting with an evening spent under the stars, whether that means soaking in the hot tub, gathering round the fire or settling in for a film outdoors, complete with marshmallows and campfire stories.
For those looking to make the most of the cooler weather, The Nest’s lakeside sauna offers another way to unwind, with the option to brave a cold-water dip before retreating into the heat.
There is plenty to explore beyond the lake too. Marked trails wind through farmland and woodland, with chances to spot deer, birds and grazing animals, while the changing foliage brings a new palette to the landscape. Guests can forage for blackberries and apples before heading back to the lodge for a slower evening indoors.
Stays start from £550 for two nights for up to six people.
