Project Power ™ Strength Training, St John’s Comprehensive in Gravesend

Project Power ™ will benefit Teenage girls at St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School in Gravesend with a transformative strength training workshop.

Led by Project Power™, this initiative, spearheaded by fitness icon Krissy Cela, aims to inspire confidence and boost participation in physical activity among teenage girls across the UK.

Project Power Addresses the decline in girls’ participation in PE

Research shows that 43% of teenage girls disengage from sport after primary school. Project Power™ addresses this decline by introducing strength training and providing suitable activewear to girls aged 14-18. These workshops aim to empower young women with knowledge, confidence, and the resources they need to enjoy physical activity.

At St John’s Catholic Comprehensive, the workshop will take place on 12th December and will be led by former student Megan Branch, now a renowned strength trainer and Oner Active athlete.

Workshops led by inspiring Project Power women

Project Power™ workshops are women-led and designed to create a supportive, empowering environment. At St John’s, Megan Branch will teach foundational strength training techniques, deliver a motivational talk, and host an interactive Q&A covering fitness, health, and careers.

The initiative doesn’t stop at workshops. Project Power™ also ensures that girls feel confident in their PE kits. Every girl at the school aged 14-18 will receive free Oner Active gym leggings, a sports bra, and a T-shirt during the programme.

Positive outcomes and lasting change

A recent survey by Oner Active revealed that 97% of girls felt more inspired to exercise after attending a workshop. Additionally, 85% wanted to see strength training integrated into their PE lessons.

PE teacher Miss Helen Thomson expressed excitement about the programme, saying:

“This programme is a fantastic opportunity for our students. The free Oner Active sportswear and expert-led sessions will undoubtedly inspire our girls to embrace physical activity with confidence.”
