A Caribbean twist on Neverland
This fresh adaptation reimagines Peter Pan’s Neverland as a mystical Caribbean island, where he plays steel pan amidst tropical rhythms and vibrant energy. Aymer explains, “We wanted Neverland on a tropical isle, bringing in the steel pan to highlight music’s role in the story. The play also asks: are children growing up too fast, and are we ever too old to play?”
At its heart, PAN! Peter’s Come Out To Play celebrates the joy of childhood. This allows Peter and friends to escape adult pressures in a lively haven filled with dance and music. This spirited interpretation invites audiences to reconnect with their inner child, reflecting Theatre Peckham’s tradition of reimagining classic tales with a local twist.
Theatre Peckham’s festive tradition
Building on past successes like Rapunzel set in a Peckham hairdresser and The Wonderful, inspired by The Wizard of Oz, Theatre Peckham continues its tradition of bringing unique festive productions to London. McLean, who champions young talent, said, “We’re thrilled to empower our Academy performers alongside seasoned artists. PAN! is a vibrant, joyful escape that’ll fill Theatre Peckham with festive cheer.”
For those looking for a family-friendly adventure, PAN! Peter’s Come Out To Play promises an inspiring celebration of culture, creativity, and youthful wonder.
