Yorkshire goes Medieval! Yorkshire Medieval Festival 4-12th August

From the organisers of the world-famous JORVIK Viking Festival, Yorkshire’s first annual Medieval Festival gets underway on 4th-12th August with over 20 events across the region.

Organisers, York Archaeological Trust, will lead the week-long celebration of all things medieval with a series of themed events in the spectacular settings of Pontefract Castle, Knaresborough Castle and York’s medieval town house, Barley Hall, among many others.

The festival programme offers something for everyone, including events with royal and sporting themes, the resurrection of colourful medieval ‘popinjay’ archery – a revival of an almost extinct and very British sport – alongside living history, performances, battle drills, crafts, feasting and family fun.
