Get a better taste of the Broads by planning your trip
A new app has been launched by tourism website, NorfolkBroads.com to help tourists save time by researching family attractions before they arrive and whilst visiting the Norfolk Broads. With almost two thirds of the UK population now owning a smartphone, the unique app helps parents / mums / families plan their holiday around their busy lifestyles. The Norfolk Broads is Britain’s largest nationally protected wetland with over seven million people visiting every year.
The app is the only one of its kind to have an interactive map of the Broads, helping tourists gain inspiration for their trip by clearly seeing what attractions are close to their hotel / boat.
It is also great tool for planning family days once on holiday as the app detects your current location via 3G, WiFi & GPS, allowing holiday-makers to see mooring spots and days out within easy reachable distance.
The user-friendly app features:
- Biking and walking routes
- GPS location tracking – regardless of phone signal*
- Personalised searches for hotels, pubs, restaurants, tourist attractions and boat hire
- Family, pet and wheelchair friendly searches
- Live web cameras of Barnes Brinkcraft, Bressingham Steam Museum, Cromer Pier and Wroxham Bridge
- Parking & boat mooring spots.
Ross Clabburn, creator of the app and director at NorfolkBroads.com says: “The Norfolk Broads has so much to offer, it can be hard to know where to go and what to do. We wanted to create an app that gave tourists easy access to information on the go – it’s like a tourist information centre in your hands. In the last couple of years our analytics data on NorfolkBroads.com shows that 20% of visitors are looking at our website on their smartphones. We felt we needed to make their experience even better with a tailored app.
“We are really excited to launch this app and hope it gives visitors some great ideas for their trip and helps them make the most out of their visit to this beautiful region.”
Bruce Hansen, tourism officer for The Broads Authority says: “The new app will really open up the Broads for our visitors. It will be particularly valuable in the large areas where broadband signals are limited or non-existent.”
The Norfolk Broads App works both offline and online and is available on Apple iOS systems such as the iPhone and iPad and costs 69p.
