FREE fun for all the family at Hyde Park

With school children breaking up from school for the summer holidays, the prospect of entertaining them for six or more weeks is an arduous task for every parent. A recent survey by the Post Office reported that parents spend an average of £400 to keep children entertained during the holidays, so any free events, which involve children’s activities, are definitely appealing.

With this in mind, the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) are holding a unique art exhibition at Speakers Corner in Hyde Park from Friday 30th August to Sunday 1st September 2013 and what’s more, it is free for all the family! Artists from the MFPA will be giving ‘live’ mouth or foot painting demonstrations and will be available to talk to visitors at the exhibition stand, while children can take part in a colouring competition.

Children will be given the chance to participate in a fun rhinoceros colouring competition to win three sets of family tickets to Marwell Zoo in Hampshire. The inspiration for the competition comes from the life size ‘Rosie the rhino’ which was painted by MFPA artist Tom Yendell to support Marwell Zoo’s Go! Rhino conservation campaign.

Comments Tom Yendell of the MFPA “we are delighted to be returning to Hyde Park to host this successful family event. The theme this year is based around the rhino after my wife and I painted a giant flower covered rhino sculpture using acrylic paints for the Go Rhino campaign. Each flower was painted three times to make it look as bright as possible and we are extremely pleased with the end result. I hope it will inspire children to be as creative as possible in the colouring competition.”
