Inspired by Mowgli’s adventures in Rudyard Kipling’s classic St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel, London has launched a Jungle Book Afternoon Tea. This culinary journey inspired by the flavours of Madya Pradesh is actually set in a typically English Hotel. A charming location perfectly placed between Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament with its impressive Shakespearean Courtyard.
Jungle Book Characters
Reflecting all the story’s character from the loveable bear’s fondness for honey, with the Baloo’s Himalayan Honey Macaroons to the infamous villain Shere Khan’s Masala Chai Éclairis both of which are perfection itself.
King Luis from the Bandar Log monkey tribe has his aptly named Bandar Log Spiced Banoffie with Saffron Cream,
The spicy kick of chilli in Ikki’s Chilli Pineapple Cupcake reflects Ikki, the porcupine’s sharp spines, and the eclectic flavours of Mowgli’s Jungle Pink Guava & Sweet Basil Jelly are reminiscent of the man-cub’s unending sense of fun and adventure.
The savoury treats all boast an Indian twist inspired by Kipling’s love of the continent, from the Curry Egg Mayo in a Brioche Bun to the Sultana Coronation Chicken Wrap.
The latest initiative in Taj’s English Classics Reinvented campaign, the launch of The Jungle Book Afternoon tea follows the recent release of Taj’s bespoke limited edition of The Jungle Book.
So “Trust in Me” and (Colonel Hathi’s) “March” over to A Taj Hotel for much more than “The Bare Necessities” where everyone will “I Wan’na Be like You” and enjoy this wondrous tea. Make sure you invite some friends because “That’s What Friends Are For”
The Jungle Book Afternoon Tea costs £35 per person. For more information please visit www.stjamescourthotel.co.uk
