Visitors can expect around 13.7 snow days per month and a festive atmosphere that attracts around 600,000 visitors each season. Innsbruck has become a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, with Instagram posts under its hashtag capturing its magical winter setting.
Tallinn, Estonia: snowy charm and festive market cheer
Tallinn, Estonia’s capital, follows closely with a festivity score of 89 out of 100. With a 40% chance of snow and an average of 12 snowy days per month, this market brings a cosy charm that’s hard to resist. The combination of quaint stalls, warm lighting, and snow-dusted streets make it an idyllic Christmas destination. Tallinn’s Christmas market boasts 5,000 Instagram hashtags, proving its appeal for those seeking the perfect festive snap.
Helsinki, Finland: Christmas magic near Lapland
Helsinki claims third place, scoring 83 out of 100 for its Christmas festivities. With a likelihood of 11.6 snowy days per month, it’s no wonder this market offers a true winter experience. The close proximity to Lapland adds an extra touch of Christmas magic. Helsinki attracts around 300,000 visitors annually, and its festive spirit shines through on Instagram, with 1,000 hashtags capturing its seasonal charm.
The most Instagrammable festive Christmas markets in Europe
For those focused on capturing the ultimate Christmas market photo, the study has also ranked Europe’s most Instagram-worthy markets. Edinburgh’s Christmas market tops the list with 55,200 hashtags, making it the most popular among Instagram users. Strasbourg in France follows with 34,400 hashtags, and Vienna, Austria, ranks third with 22,500.
