sleep consultant

Sleep Consultant, Northumbria University graduate and founder of The Little Sleep Company, Imogen Russell, has partnered with international baby brand Mamas & Papas. As the brand’s resident sleep expert, Imogen offers parents expert guidance and practical advice on navigating the often-challenging world of baby and toddler sleep.

The journey from student to sleep consultant

Imogen launched The Little Sleep Company in 2022 during her final year of studying Psychology at Northumbria University. The company focuses on a holistic approach to sleep, helping families achieve their “biological best sleep.” By identifying the root causes of sleep disruption, Imogen provides tailored strategies that ensure children and their parents enjoy restful nights and productive days. Hence she is known as a sleep consultant.

Imogen explains:
“Sleep deprivation can be overwhelming, and much advice online isn’t helpful. I want to empower parents with compassionate strategies to improve their family’s well-being before they reach breaking point.”

Partnering with Mamas & Papas as a sleep Consultant

Imogen’s collaboration with Mamas & Papas has expanded her reach. Through blogs, videos, and in-store materials, she supports families at every stage, from newborn sleep to tackling toddler nap transitions. Her advice also extends to parental well-being, ensuring the whole family benefits.

Claire Rayner, Marketing Director at Mamas & Papas, highlights the importance of the partnership:
“Our aim is to inspire and support parents to be confident and capable. Imogen’s expert sleep guidance helps us provide invaluable resources for our community.”

Imogen’s expert tips are available across Mamas & Papas’ platforms, including their website, YouTube, and Instagram channels.

The impact of sleep deprivation

Research by Northumbria Master’s students, conducted through the University’s Business Clinic, found that increasing parental sleep by one hour per night could boost workplace productivity by 20%. Imogen notes:
“Sleep deprivation affects every aspect of life, from family dynamics to workplace performance. Tackling these challenges benefits everyone.”

Supporting start-ups at Northumbria

The Little Sleep Company operates from Northumbria’s Incubator Hub, which supports student and graduate entrepreneurs. Imogen credits her mentors and the Hub’s collaborative environment for helping secure her partnership with Mamas & Papas.

Northumbria University ranks among the UK’s top institutions for graduate start-ups, providing five years of post-graduation support. Head of Enterprise Development Graham Baty praises Imogen’s achievements, stating:
“Securing a globally recognised brand as a client demonstrates Imogen’s dedication and potential for continued success.”
