Add these vitamin C fruits daily
Feeling constantly tired or always catching colds? Experts say your diet may be missing key immune-supporting fruits. According to Wellness Drip, eating three specific fruits each day could halve the number of sick days you take. These fruits all contain high levels of vitamin C, which helps fight infections, improve recovery, and reduce inflammation naturally.
Dr Nadeem, a nutritional health expert at Wellness Drip, explains how these fruits support immunity and energy from the inside out.
Oranges help power recovery
Oranges offer more than just a sweet taste. One medium orange gives over 70mg of vitamin C—more than enough for most adults. Dr Nadeem explains that oranges support the body by boosting white blood cell production and protecting the skin’s barrier.
They also keep you hydrated, provide natural energy, and supply folate for healthy cells. Eat one daily to help your body stay strong when viruses strike.
Kiwis fruits support gut and immune health
Kiwi fruit often gets overlooked, but each one contains about 90mg of vitamin C—more than an orange. Kiwis also bring fibre, potassium, and antioxidants to the table.
Dr Nadeem notes that kiwi supports the gut, where most immune cells live. A healthy gut often leads to fewer colds and faster recovery. Children and older adults benefit most from regular kiwi intake.
Strawberries reduce inflammation
Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and powerful plant flavonoids that lower inflammation. Just eight strawberries give around 85mg of vitamin C.
Dr Nadeem recommends them for anyone recovering from illness or going through stressful times. The vitamin C in strawberries works with polyphenols to fight off infections naturally.
Why food beats supplements
While many people turn to high-dose supplements when ill, food often works better. Cooking and storing can destroy vitamin C, which makes raw fruit so effective.
Dr Nadeem says the body doesn’t store vitamin C, so a daily supply is essential. If you feel run down or struggle to recover, your diet could be lacking.
A spokesperson for Wellness Drip adds, “Prevention begins in the kitchen. Oranges, kiwis, and strawberries offer absorbable vitamin C your body can use right away.”
