The Big Bahooney at Hampton Court: A bonkers bank holiday bonanza
We recently went to Big Bahooney at Hampton Court and it turned out to be one of the most memorable family outings we’ve had in a long time. Set against the stunning backdrop of Hampton Court Palace, the event delivered a brilliant blend of fun, creativity, and immersive entertainment that delighted both children and adults.
Without a doubt, the highlight of the day for our family was the Farmyard Circus. This charming, high-energy performance captured the imagination of children and parents alike with its whimsical characters, daring acrobatics, and laugh-out-loud moments. The blend of clever choreography and storytelling was so engaging that even our toddler was completely captivated which is no small feat! He watched wide-eyed as the performers tumbled, juggled, and clowned their way through the show, all while playing animal characters with such charisma and humor that the audience couldn’t help but cheer.
Adding to the magic of the day were the roaming pirate and firefighter performers, who wandered through the crowds interacting with families. Our toddler was especially enchanted by these characters. These little moments of one-on-one engagement made the whole experience feel personal and exciting, bringing an extra touch of wonder to the day.
Throughout the event, children were encouraged to get involved, and it was wonderful to see so many youngsters trying their hand at circus tricks. From plate-spinning to hula-hooping and even simple balancing acts, the interactive stations were a real hit. The staff were patient and enthusiastic, giving helpful tips and lots of encouragement. The sight of kids confidently twirling ribbons or managing their first stilt steps was heartwarming and added to the joyful, carnival-like atmosphere.
There were food vendors on site offering a wide variety of food but the lunch time queues were fairly long. Many families brought a picnic, which is definitely what we would do next time.
What really set The Big Bahooney apart was its inclusive, family-friendly vibe. There was a strong sense of community and creativity throughout the site, with plenty of space to sit, eat, and relax between shows. Food and drink options were varied and tasty, with both grown-up choices and child-friendly snacks. The layout was easy to navigate with a pushchair, and there were plenty of shaded areas and clean facilities, making it a stress-free experience for parents.
All in all, The Big Bahooney was a brilliant day out. It was thoughtfully designed, beautifully run, and packed with entertainment that delighted children of all ages. Our toddler had a fantastic time and hasn’t stopped talking about the circus or the funny pirate since we got home. We’ll definitely be back next year, and I’d recommend it wholeheartedly to any family looking for a magical, laughter-filled day together.
Hampton Court has lots of events for families this summer, including Winnie the Pooh’s Honey Hunt and Peter Rabbit’s trail.
