Summer Science Exhibition 2025 with less than one month to go until the Royal Society’s launches the event

The countdown has begun. From 1-6 July the Royal Society’s annual Summer Science Exhibition will be back at Carlton House Terrace in London showcasing the most exciting UK research.

With one month to go, it’s time to start scouring the programme and planning your visit. An exciting line up of talks and activities means no two days are the same.

Every day you’ll have a chance to meet scientists behind some of the UK’s most exciting research.

With 13 flagship exhibits across the building, you can get hands on with the latest advances, from the superbug-busting viruses found in puddles, to the continent-spanning telescope aiming to peer into the depths of the universe.

The week kicks off at 6pm on Tuesday 1 July when doors open to the public for Summer Science Lates (18+ only), with stand-up comedy, science-themed cocktails, and illuminating quantum physics art.

Throughout the week, explore the intersection of art and science, with a talk from x-ray artist, Hugh Turvey, or get to grips with the future of nanomaterials in a Japanese tea-ceremony blending cutting-edge science with ancient tradition.

There will also be the opportunity to join a special screening of two short documentaries showcasing trailblazing scientists Dame Kathleen Lonsdale FRS and Dr Marjory Stephenson FRS, the first women elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society in 1945.

Finally, meet the next generation of scientists at the Young Researcher Zone, where school students funded through the Royal Society Partnership Grants will be showing off their discoveries.

A preview of the exhibition for journalists will run during the morning on 1 July before doors open to the public at 6pm.
