Brixton House and Poltergeist Announce the Return of Their Multi-Award-Winning Festive Show Alice in Wonderland

Brixton House and Poltergeist are bringing back their critically acclaimed, five-star festive show, Alice in Wonderland, for an extended run this Christmas season. Reimagining Lewis Carroll’s wacky world, this production takes the adventure underground, setting it on London’s Victoria Line with a fresh, modern twist.

The show, last seen during Christmas 2022, combines rap music, the vibrant sights and sounds of Brixton, and Poltergeist’s signature fast-paced storytelling. Directed by the award-winning Jack Bradfield, with lyrics by Gerel Falconer, the production promises a whirlwind experience, perfect for families this festive season.

Cast Announced

Leading the new cast is award-winning poet and performer Tatenda Matsvai, who takes on the role of Alice. The full cast includes Cheyenne Dasri, Gavin Dunn, Rosa Garland, Olivia Woolhouse, and Will Spence. The story, deeply rooted in the Brixton community, breathes contemporary life into this much-loved classic, bringing a South London flavour to Carroll’s whimsical world.

The plot kicks off when eleven-year-old Alice, following a heated argument with her mum at Brixton Underground Station, jumps onto a tube train just as the doors close. Trapped on a speeding train bound for a world of nonsense, Alice encounters bizarre passengers and faces the challenge of a tyrannical Queen who refuses to give up control. Will Alice be able to turn this wild ride around?

Thrilling and Hilarious

Running from 21 November 2024 to 4 January 2025, Alice in Wonderland Returns is set to be a thrilling and hilarious adventure for the whole family. Directed by Jack Bradfield, whose previous work includes Abigail’s Party for Northern Stage and Art Heist at the New Diorama, the show is also supported by Gerel Falconer, winner of the Book & Lyrics Award, and Costume Designer Debbie Duru, both of whom were honoured at the 2022 Black British Theatre Awards.
