Ashdown Forest and Sussex (summer 2026)
Marking 100 years of A.A Milne’s beloved Winnie-the-Pooh stories, trailblazing artists Trigger will present The Big One Hundred, a series of free cultural events at Ashdown Forest and throughout Sussex.
Kicking off on 18-19 July in Ashdown Forest, home of the Hundred Acre Wood, Trigger are inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a series of nature-based events and activities including interactive performances from ‘Poppet’ – the giant puppet inspired by the endangered species in the Forest. The giant puppet and explorer activities will then tour to Hailsham Town Centre on 26 July, Sheffield Park and Garden on 1 August, Uckfield’s Weald on the Field on 8 August and Herstmonceux Castle on 22-23 August.
Six new walks will also open in Ashdown Forest, including the Forest’s first all-weather walk, themed around different unique and threatened species native to the Forest.
The creative team for The Big One Hundred celebrations include groundbreaking artist and costume designer Jack Irving, Trigger creative director Angie Bual, Olivier Award-winning theatre maker Laura Cubitt and puppetry consultant Oliver Hymans.

Touring the UK For everyone over 5The world premiere stage adaptation of Dermot O’Leary’s much loved children’s book illustrated by Nick East, Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape has lovingly been adapted from page to stage by award-winning duo, Little Angel Artistic Director Samantha Lane and acclaimed musician Barb Jungr (Olivier nominated for Best Family Show in 2023 for their previous collaboration on The Smartest Giant in Town). Little Angel Theatre Children’s Puppet Festival 2026

As Little Angel Theatre begins celebrations for its 65th anniversary, it is launching an ambitious heritage project to revive and safeguard the future of marionette puppetry in the UK – an endangered craft with more than 600 years of history. As part of this commitment, Little Angel Theatre Children’s Puppet Festival returns for its fourth year from 28 July to 30 August, featuring the world premiere of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (22–30 August, ages 6+), a brand-new marionette production written, directed, and designed by Little Angel Associate Director Olivier Hymans. The production will make use of Little Angel Theatre’s historic double marionette bridge, showcasing the artistry and heritage of traditional string puppetry. The festival programme also includes Tiny Planet, At Sea, Jack and the Beanstalk (sort of), Club Origami, and Puffling Percy.

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) London’s leading and longest established FREE festival of outdoor performing arts returns to the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Newham and Thamesmead with new work including 3 world premieres, 5 UK premieres and 10 London premieres from over 25 companies from across the world (Argentina, France, Catalonia, Germany, Netherlands and Spain) will be presented with the first wave of programming announced today.
Highlights include: 360 – from a towering circular stage in Woolwich town centre, a ravey new large-scale dance ritual by trailblazing French choreographer Mehdi Kerkouche opens GDIF 2026 on 21 August; Efectos Especiales – immersive theatre from Argentina. Cinema and live outdoor performance collide at Greenwich Peninsula, taking audiences behind-the-scenes of an action film set (29-30 August); Nature Speaks – a cutting-edge double bill of open-air audio-visual installations that gives voice to nature itself in an extraordinary hidden landscape in Thamesmead.
