Most people pick a festival based on its lineup, but there’s so much to do at Gloworm Festival that it barely matters if you know who’s playing.
Lucky for us, and our two year old, one of our favourite CBeebies stars was booked to appear twice.
A Main Stage for All Ages
Wedged between Baby Shark, Bebe Finn and Paw Patrol, Nick Cope took the main stage by storm. He mixed jokes that appeal to kids and adults alike, playing hit after hit from his show, Nick Cope’s Popcast.
If the main stage isn’t your thing, there’s plenty more going on. Character meet and greets pop up at every turn, and funfair rides for little ones are free until 5pm. There’s also a circus, a farm, jousting and trampolining, with new things to discover at every turn. We were genuinely surprised by the variety on offer, from big top shows to small games and activities dotted around the site.
Well Organised, Not Overwhelming
One of the best things about Gloworm is the balance it strikes. There’s enough going on to keep everyone busy, but it’s not so sprawling that you never get round to seeing it all. Even meet and greets with Bluey, Bing or Mr Blobby move quickly, so you’re not left queuing for hours.
An hour after his main stage set, Cope read and played along to a book in the CBeebies tent, compered by Dodge the Dog. The tent is big enough to fit everyone in comfortably, but small enough to still feel special.
Meanwhile, the main stage kept rolling with a mix of acts, from Sublime Science to Styles and Swift, all designed to entertain the whole family.
With tickets still available for Sunday, Gloworm Festival is well worth a visit for a summer day out. It has everything, including a beach.
