New Woodland Adventure Playground Opens in Suffolk This Summer

Families looking for a new outdoor adventure this summer will soon have a magical new destination to explore in Suffolk.

Guildenacre, a brand-new woodland adventure playground set within four acres of beautiful woodland at the Helmingham Estate, will officially open to visitors on Saturday 27 June.

Designed to encourage children to connect with nature through imaginative play, the immersive attraction features four themed zones inspired by woodland guardian animals – a badger, fox, owl and stag. Each area offers a unique experience, from climbing structures and tunnels to lookout points and nature-inspired activities.

One of the playground’s biggest attractions is The Elderglade, a giant play structure packed with climbing walls, bridges, tunnels, walkways and thrilling slides. Children can also explore Eira the Owl’s Canopy Keep, perched high among the trees, venture underground through Flint the Badger’s Hollow, or challenge themselves at Vex the Vixen’s Ember Den, designed with older children in mind.

For adventurous youngsters, Guildenacre includes a zip line, rope ladders, balance beams and climbing challenges. Meanwhile, children who enjoy discovery and imaginative play can explore talking tubes, wooden walkways, two-storey lookout platforms and a dedicated stargazing deck.

The woodland setting has been carefully designed to blend with its natural surroundings. Families can also enjoy a den-building area where children can create their own woodland hideouts, as well as a themed trail featuring stamp stations throughout the site.

Parents will find plenty of facilities on-site, including toilets, seating areas and refreshment kiosks. Visitors can also stop by the restored Grade II-listed Wades Barn, where Suffolk-based Black Dog Deli will serve food and drinks. Free parking is available for both Guildenacre visitors and walkers.

Guildenacre will initially open on weekends from 27 June before welcoming guests daily throughout the summer holidays from 18 July to 31 August, returning to weekend openings afterwards.

To celebrate the government’s temporary reduction in VAT for certain attractions, discounted summer ticket prices are available until 31 August. Advance online tickets cost £11.50 for children aged five and over, £6 for children aged three to four, and £8 for adults. Children under three enter free. On-the-day tickets are also available at slightly higher prices.
