Blue Planet Aquarium review: A cracking Easter adventure

We recently spent a wonderful day at Blue Planet Aquarium over the Easter holidays and couldn’t recommend it more for families looking to mix fun with learning. The Easter activities were a real hit — cleverly themed and thoughtfully put together, they had just the right balance of energy and engagement for young explorers.

The Easter egg hunt was the highlight for our two. Colourful cardboard eggs were hidden throughout the aquarium and along the Nature Walk, each with different patterns to spot and tick off on a special activity sheet. It turned a walk around the aquarium into a proper adventure — we even looped round a few times to make sure we hadn’t missed any! It was simple but brilliantly done, and the children were totally absorbed.

There were also Easter crafts available — decorate-your-own egg activities and spring-themed creations like fluffy chicks and Easter bunnies. While ours were too focused on the egg hunt to stop for crafts, we saw other children having a great time with glue sticks and glitter. Plus, there was a chance to win a year’s pass with your creation — a lovely extra incentive.

Educational talks and feeding times were woven throughout the day and gave us all a chance to pause and learn. The Aquatheatre Show in particular stood out — watching the divers interact with the fish (especially the rays!) was genuinely mesmerising, and the commentary was perfectly pitched for younger audiences.

What really made the visit feel special, though, was the staff. Everyone we met was warm and welcoming, and particular thanks go to Jenna, who made such a lovely effort with the children — a small gesture that made a big difference.

Outside, the Nature Walk and Pirate Playground were a great way to end the visit. The pelicans at Pelican Cove were an unexpected delight, and the playground was a perfect outlet for any last bits of energy.

In all, Blue Planet Aquarium has done a brilliant job bringing a seasonal twist to its already excellent offering. If you're looking for a day out this Easter that’s equal parts engaging, educational and fun, this should be top of your list. Easter activities run until April 27th and tickets should be booked in advance.
