Originally part of the first set of 20 Bluey Shorts commissioned by BBC Studios Digital Brands in 2021, ‘Archaeology’ showcases Bluey’s dad, Bandit, in his professional role as an archaeologist. He hosts a fascinating talk on an ancient discovery, giving fans a fresh perspective on the beloved character.

Previously, this short was exclusive to Australian followers on Bluey Facebook in April 2022. Now, BBC Studios Digital Brands has decided to make it accessible worldwide. With a runtime of just 1 minute and 36 seconds, this bite-sized Bluey adventure is ready for global audiences.

A wave of exciting Bluey news

The release of ‘Archaeology’ follows a string of thrilling announcements from BBC Studios and Ludo Studio. A Bluey movie is in development and set for a 2027 release, with global distribution by the Walt Disney Company.

Additionally, Bluey Digital Brands has earned major accolades, winning Best YouTube Channel and Best Web/App Series – Branded for Bluey Book Reads at the Kidscreen Awards 2025. Nielsen reported that Bluey was the No.1 most-watched series on streaming in 2024 in the U.S., with an incredible 56 billion minutes (930 million hours) watched. In the UK, Bluey holds the top spot on CBeebies/iPlayer and Disney+.
