Code Ninjas Welwyn Garden City, four years of coding magic
Quote from Fergus McCarthy on December 6, 2024, 3:08 pmCode Ninjas in Welwyn Garden City has been inspiring young minds for four years. Since opening its doors, this vibrant centre has become a hub for children aged 5 to 14, offering a unique approach to coding and life skills through gaming and STEM activities.
Code Ninjas Inspiring young coders
It provides a safe and inclusive space where kids can explore programming through fun projects. Students develop skills in Scratch, JavaScript, Lua, and even C#, creating games and building confidence along the way.
Chrysoula Lazaraki, Centre Director, explains her passion for the dojo: “This is much more than a job. Seeing our students grow in confidence and ability every day makes me proud. The welcoming environment we’ve built helps kids of all abilities feel supported.”
Life-changing moments
Over the years, Code Ninjas has created countless memorable moments. Chrysoula recalls a student spending extra time at the centre during a challenging Christmas at home, feeling safe and supported. Parents also frequently express their gratitude for the team’s dedication.
“We prioritise inclusivity,” says Chrysoula. “Our team is trained to support children with additional needs, including autism. Parents appreciate this personal approach, which builds strong loyalty and connections.”
From Code Ninjas to Senseis
A standout feature is its progression pathway. Many students, or Ninjas, advance to become Senseis, mentoring the next generation.
Maahi, a former student and now Junior Sensei, shares: “The support from my Senseis helped me earn my Black Belt and become a Sensei myself. This experience taught me valuable skills and resilience.”
Shashish, another student, adds: “Learning coding here has been fun and rewarding. I now feel confident pursuing software engineering thanks to the foundation I built at Code Ninjas.”
Looking to the future
Bhavna Patel, Centre Owner, has big plans for the future. “We aim to secure Ofsted registration, enabling us to accept childcare vouchers. This will make our programmes accessible to more families and help us grow as a community hub.”
Code Ninjas Welwyn Garden City continues to transform young lives through coding, creativity, and connection.
