Watch with Baby at Picturehouse Review

Almost as soon as our baby was born, a colleague told me about Watch with Baby at Picturehouse. As any parent knows, finding baby-friendly activities can sometimes be a challenge, but this cinema experience offers something different from playgroups and meet-ups.

The Watch with Baby screenings are specifically designed for parents and carers with babies under 12 months, making it a low-pressure environment. The lights were kept brighter than usual, which helped for those inevitable moments of needing to grab a toy or bottle.

While the cinema wasn't too busy, that added to the calm atmosphere, making it feel like a relaxed outing rather than a hectic rush. Our 8-month-old nodded off shortly after Beetlejuice Beetlejuive started, which was a relief, but a little extra comfort for parents would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, we couldn't take the pram into the screen—being able to park it at the front would have made things even easier.

All in all, though, it was a pleasant experience. The Picturehouse staff were friendly and accommodating, and the setting allowed for baby noises without feeling self-conscious.

The listings are usually out a week in advance and have the latest films. If you have a couple of options it's worth browsing by day to see what's on when. We went to Clapham on a Sunday because it was in our baby's nap time and parking is free on the streets nearby. U

If you're looking for a stress-free cinema trip with your little one, the Watch with Baby screenings are well worth a visit.
