Members of farm accommodation group Farm Stay UK based in Scotland have developed a new, unique Food & Drink guide – the Scottish Lowlands Food & Drink Trail. Produced in partnership with Tasting Scotland, who arranges gourmet tours across Scotland, the guide links award-winning accommodation with fine local food and drink producers.
The new full colour brochure can be used to create a five or seven day journeys through some of Scotland’s most scenic areas or give inspiration for ‘foodie days out’ whilst staying in farm B&Bs or self-catering Farm Stay accommodation in the Scottish Lowlands. Travel through the Clyde Valley to the Carmichael Estate venison farm where you can enjoy a famous venison burger in the farm shop which uses produce from the farm (they have an on-farm slaughterhouse for maximum welfare and stress-free meat); next stop Biggar, for daily baked breads, hot pies, cakes, scones and quiches; pick up some beer at Broughton Brewery, which names each beer the microbrewery makes after a renowned character from the Scottish Borders; then rest tired heads in a converted farm building with log fires and cosy beds.
The Scottish Lowlands Food & Drink Trail encourages users to stay on farms which produce and use some of the finest food Scotland has to offer. Guests of the farms in the trail can find out about local food production and use the guide to taste, sample and enjoy Scottish tours and inspire great days out in the area.
