Take a #footsie for the street children Barefoot Friday

Street Child Africa is urging people to get their feet out for the street this Friday 20th of June.

The ‘#footsie’ campaign which culminates in Barefoot Friday aims to raise funds for the 100,000 children living and working on the streets of six cities across Africa.

People are being urged to join the campaign with celebrities such as strictly winner and TV presenter Chris Hollins by taking a #footsie (a picture of their bare feet) posting it on Facebook and twitter and texting STREET to 70660 to donate £3* which could buy a child a pair of shoes. The charity hopes to generate 100,000 #footsie pictures in recognition of the children.

Every donation helps a street child take their first steps to a safer future – whether this is talking to a trusted adult or visiting a drop-in centre to shower, wash their clothes and play.

Funds raised provide counseling and educational and help to break the cycle of poverty. The charity tries, where possible to reunite children with their families whilst supporting those who have no family to return to.  For more information or to donate on line please go to www.streetchildafrica.org.uk
