Ascension Training is a new health and fitness centre located in the heart of Epsom, just a 5-minute walk from the high street and station. With high quality facilities, equipment and coaching to encompass the full health and well-being experience, enabling you to live your life to the fullest. This spacious facility has various workout areas, a great coffee shop and plenty of parking.  It is also the home of CrossFit Epsom. You may (or may not) know about CrossFit, it’s a style of safe, effective exercise for all. The “all” bit, might come as a surprise to you but Ascension Training’s programmes work for everyone. So if you are just starting out, returning from a break, or have trained for years, this is a community ready to welcome you in. The “all” also includes different age groups, from children’s classes to the 60+ Master classes with everything in-between.

CrossFit

So what do they do? Well, it’s like going to the gym with friends and working out together to a carefully designed plan. CrossFit workouts are different every day and can be modified to help each ‘athlete’ (yes we’re all athletes inside) achieve their goals. Plus, the workouts may be scaled for people at any age, fitness or concerns. They run different programmes; CrossFit for daily strength and conditioning; Engine Club more for cardiovascular health; and Barbell Club for an Olympic weightlifting experience. Open Gym is available where you follow your own program or simply work on a skill. As a Masters+ athlete, the one thing I like is that the workouts constantly vary. Apart from Open Gym (Coaches are still present though to ensure your safety), you have a Coach instructing you and making sure your position and movements are correct.

The owners state that “we aim for everyone to feel they can become the best versions of themselves. We believe that physical and mental wellbeing should be accessible for everyone. The health and fitness industry can sometimes be exclusive and focused on quick wins through unsustainable methods.” Being part of Ascension Training gives you a great support network both in the Coaches and other members. Having done CrossFit with Ascension in a previous location, I can honestly say the classes and Coaches are encouraging and motivating. This isn’t a gym full of egos, everyone is welcome, feels comfortable and gets the help they need/want to work toward their goals. Here you will make new friends and become part of a community.

Some boot camps and gyms have given me the feeling of “athletes only need apply!” Don’t get me wrong you will see plenty of super fit (and friendly) people at Ascension Training, but you will also see all shapes, sizes and ages too (also friendly). The NHS states “Exercise is the miracle cure we’ve always had, but for too long we’ve neglected to take our recommended dose.”

Why not go down for a chat with a Coach (No Sweat Intro) about how Ascension Training can help you achieve your goals. You will be made welcome in this unique community.
