Kooth invites young people to get creative for a place on the Kooth Future Council

Kooth Digital Health, a leading digital mental wellbeing platform for young people, has an exciting nationwide competition. The new Kooth Future Council brings together ten 15-18-year-olds to lead conversations about mental health. Kooth invites young people across Britain to share their creative work for a chance to join this youth-led council.

What is the Kooth Future Council?

The Kooth Future Council will consist of ten talented young people. The council aims to inspire discussions around mental health, and encourage creative expression as a way to manage negative emotions. Council members will collaborate with prominent creatives, including content creator Luke Vernon, poet and musician Dan Whitlam, and artist Eva Malley.

This initiative gives young people the chance to learn valuable skills that could benefit them in future job applications or on UCAS forms. More importantly, they will gain insights into mental wellbeing while using their creativity to help others.

How to get involved

To enter, Kooth is asking young people to submit creative work that answers the question: ‘How do you overcome negative emotions?’ You can submit a video, artwork, photography, or creative writing. Whether you are an experienced artist or just starting, all levels of creativity are encouraged.

Winners will gain access to a series of masterclasses with creative experts. These workshops, led by professionals like Luke Vernon and Dan Whitlam, will inspire young people to express themselves through their art while addressing mental wellbeing. The content created will be showcased in mental health campaigns for young people in 2025.

Why creativity matters for mental health

Luke Vernon, known for his TikTok Vox Pops, is excited to work with the Kooth Future Council. He said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to use their creativity to spark important conversations about mental health. Being creative is such a powerful tool for managing emotions.”

Alexa Gooder, Head of User Marketing & Engagement at Kooth, added, “We are passionate about involving young people in shaping our services. This competition is a unique learning opportunity that could make a real difference in future college or work applications.”

How to enter

The competition runs from 23rd September to 15th November. If you are aged 15-18 and would like to take part, visit Kooth Future Council for more information on how to enter.

Masterclasses will take place in early 2025, both in-person and online, offering a fantastic chance to work with creative experts and develop your skills.
