Discover London’s secret Tube stations
Families can now join the Hidden London tours and explore disused Tube stations and secret Underground areas. Previously only open to children aged 14 and over, this exciting opportunity is now available to those aged 10 and above, offering a new family-friendly experience.
Exclusive guided tours of Hidden London history
London Transport Museum runs the Hidden London tours, giving visitors a unique glimpse into the forgotten parts of the Underground network. Expert guides lead the tours, sharing fascinating stories of London’s past, directly from the museum’s archives. Families visit hidden platforms, abandoned stations, and wartime shelters to learn about the city’s history.
The tours run all year round, Wednesday to Sunday, with 11 different locations rotating throughout the year. Highlights include secret parts of Holborn station, Euston’s lost tunnels, and Clapham South’s subterranean shelter. Tickets can be booked via the London Transport Museum website.
Family tours now open to younger children
The museum lowered the age restriction to 10 years old, following successful trials earlier this year. Elizabeth McKay, Director of London Transport Museum, says, “We are thrilled to welcome younger visitors on our Hidden London tours. It’s a wonderful way for families to experience time travel and discover secret spaces together.”
Families can look forward to the Clapham South: Subterranean Shelter tour, which explores an underground maze built to protect Londoners during the Second World War. This immersive experience includes interactive areas, original wartime artefacts, and first-hand accounts from a 1940s warden.
