Kendamil infant formula shortage update 2024: New stock announced

Baby formula producer Kendamil has announced a nationwide shortage of two of its most popular powder formulas due to soaring demand.

Kendamil, produced by Kendal Nutricare on Mint Bridge Road in Kendal since 2015, is facing challenges in keeping up with the supply of its Classic and Organic powder formulas.

As the only British-made infant formula producer, the company has paused new orders on its website and added extra shifts to ramp up production.

Co-founder Will McMahon confirmed that subscriptions are still being fulfilled. Addressing the situation on social media, he explained that the company is working on expanding its Kendal factory to meet demand. Despite regular deliveries to retailers, he acknowledged that this has not been enough to ensure consistent availability nationwide.

“We understand how stressful and difficult this is for families,” McMahon said. “Letting any parent down is the last thing we want to do. We’re reading your concerns and truly feel for you.”

“We’re working around the clock and hope to bring you better news very soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” McMahon added.

Meanwhile, parents in some Facebook groups have spotted Kendamil on the shelves of supermarkets, including Tesco. Users on Reddit have also spotted stock in Boots.

The Kendamil team took to TikTok on October 16th to reassure families, sharing that Kendamil Goat formula should be back in stock by next week, with Kendamil Organic following shortly after. While Kendamil Classic may take a little longer, it’s expected to return to shelves by early November.
