Some of the world’s most respected dog trainers and brands have come together this week to launch a free online training hub to share tips and advice to help owners address an increase in common behavioural issues and build a stronger relationship with their pet.
According to this year’s PDSA Animal Wellbeing Report 60% of veterinary professionals say they have seen an increase in dog behavioural issues in the last two years, with 75% believing this was due to lack of socialisation, 66% due to owners not being able to understand canine behaviour and communication, and 64% due to lack of puppy training.
In response to this ongoing decline in dog behaviour in the UK, Birmingham based ACME Whistles has launched ACME Kennels where dog owners can access a whole host of expert-led videos from five renowned trainers who each have their own unique training style and advice.
The five respected experts in dog behaviour and training include award-winning gundog trainer and the owner of Beggarbush Gundogs, Ben Randall; gundog trainer and judge, Jason Mayhew; dog behaviourist, Nick Jones; certified dog trainer, Lara Sorisi; and former England Gundog team member, Laura Hill.
The Kennels
Speaking about The Kennels, head of marketing for ACME whistles, Ben Mcfarlane, said: “This is a really exciting time for ACME and we have worked with leading experts in the dog training world to launch something that will resonate with dog owners – both gun dog owners and pet owners.
“The stats around increasing issues with dog behaviour in the UK highlight a problem that needs tackling and we hope The Kennels will help dog owners learn how to better communicate, teach and build a healthy bond with their pets.
“We invented the first dog whistle in 1935, which has been the go-to training tool for dog owners for decades so it made sense that we would work with some of the world leaders in dog training to educate and inspire dog owners who are looking for training tips.”
Dog Behaviourist
From training a puppy with dog behaviourist, Nick Jones, to learning about dog walking etiquette with certified dog trainer, Lara Sorisi, The Kennels has been developed by the team at ACME to provide free lessons intended to inspire, educate and inform dog owners and give them strong foundations for fostering desired behaviours in dogs. The variety of content is designed to suit the individual needs of both dog and owner so dogs can be trained safely and correctly.
Whether it’s a gun dog, family pet or even a support animal, the most important aspect of pet keeping is communication according to Ben Randall who is an award-winning dog training expert and one of the experts featured on The Kennels.
“Now is the time for dog owners to take responsibility and train their dogs,” say Randall.
“What owners need is reliable and proven methods on how to communicate with their pet, and the patience to teach the dog at depth over time.
“Training means confidently communicating with your dog which helps to keep them safe while off the lead and enables you to retain control in a variety of situations.
“I’m really pleased to be part of The Kennels and to support ACME in their ongoing goal of inspiring dog owners to find a training technique that works for them so they stick with it and makes steps towards improving dog behavioural issues in the UK.”
ACME Whistles will be adding new insights and training techniques to The Kennels over time to engage with its ever growing audience of dog owners.
