Pets to Europe on board: The 2024 statistics

LeShuttle’s pet-friendly service remains a popular choice for families travelling abroad.

  • 1 in 8 journeys on LeShuttle included a pet.
  • Over 360,000 pets travelled last year.
  • That’s more than 40 pets per hour or nearly 1,000 pets per day!

Stress-free pet travel

Taking pets to Europe with LeShuttle means pets stay with their owners in the comfort of their own car during the short 35-minute crossing from Folkestone to Calais. Pet receptions in Folkestone and Calais provide a 24-hour check-in service, ensuring a smooth journey. Dedicated pet exercise areas with artificial grass and complimentary poop bags help keep pets comfortable.

A survey of LeShuttle customers highlighted why they choose this service over ferries. Most prefer the ability to stay with their pets throughout the journey, reducing stress. The speed of travel is another key factor, with LeShuttle being the fastest way to reach mainland Europe. France is the most popular destination, followed by Spain, Italy, and Germany.
